Longitude Prize 2014
300 years ago, the British Government challenged the people to solve one of the biggest scientific challenges of the day: a method to allow sailors to be able to determine their position at sea by knowing their longitude.
Now, in conjunction with the Horizon programme, the Longitude Committee has set a new challenge. There are six major issues surrounding humanity at the moment. The first element of the challenge is to vote for which of the six issues should be the focus of the Longitude Prize 2014. On 25th June, the winning challenge will be announced and will become the focus of the £10 million prize fund!!

- How can we restore movement to those with paralysis?
- How can we ensure everyone can have access to safe and clean water?
- How can we ensure everyone has nutritious, sustainable food?
- How can we fly without damaging the environment?
- How can we help people with dementia live independently for longer?
